In 1983, Girdhari Chhabria and Manu Chhabria, two brothers from India, decided to start a retail business in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria, opening the first Fund Grube outlet at the CITA Shopping Center. The store introduced an innovative sales strategy –a novelty in Europe at the time–, moving from counter service by retailing staff to self-service. Tobacco products were sold almost at cost price to a growing number of foreign visitors.

Fund Grube Carlota, located in a privileged area of the South of Tenerife.
Opening of Fund Grube Rubicon, Playa Blanca, our first store in Lanzarote.
Such expansion resulted in Fund Grube being awarded Best Tourist Perfumery in 2008, an honor that was also received in 2013 and 2014.
Opening of Fund Grube Lago, our second outlet at Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.
Opening of Fund Grube Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote, our first outlet featuring a new design concept.
Opening of Las Arenas, Fund Grube’s first venture in a non-tourist area.
Opening of Fund Grube El Mirador, located at El Mirador Shopping Center.
2012 represents our most successful year in terms of new outlets, totaling 5 openings between Tenerife and Lanzarote.
The first of those 5 new outlets – Fund Grube Yaiza – was established in February 2012 at Playa Blanca, Lanzarote.
Fund Grube Fariones, in April, marked the second opening of a new store in 2012. Located at Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote.
In July 2012, Fund Grube Vistasur opened in Tenerife.
Fund Grube Teguise started operating in August 2012, also in Lanzarote.
Finally, the last opening of 2012 was Fund Grube Puerto Colón, in the South of Tenerife.
In 2014, Fund Grube has launched a new concept store by the name of “Walk by Fund Grube”, featuring a specific corner space for footwear and accessories.
